Sales Benchmark Index uses a killer application -- Return on Sales -- to evaluate performance.
Sales, unlike Finance with its use of GAAP, has no universally accepted means to measure the inputs that produce World Class sales results. Sales Benchmark Index has defined a way to measure a company’s sales performance as follows:- There is a high correlation between Return on Sales performance and shareholder returns
- The top 100 Return on Sales companies produced a median shareholder return of 18.6%
- Those companies not included in the top 100 returned a median
loss of 5.0%
